IABC is a three-decade old association based in San Francisco, California, USA. Currently, it enjoys a membership of more than 13,500 professionals in 60 countries worldwide.

In Malaysia, IABC was officially formed in 1992 and revived in 1998. Its current membership is around 42 professionals. The Malaysia Chapter is managed by a board who are volunteers. These volunteers come from a broad based communications background in the areas of public relations, advertising, investor relations and marketing.

Since the chapter's establishment, IABC has been active in promoting professional and membership development among Malaysian business communicators.

The Malaysia Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators was established with the view of promoting an active fraternity among business communicators in Malaysia. For those of you visiting IABC Malaysia Chapter's homepage for the first time, let us share with you a short background on the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). It is a global association and the leading resource for effective communication. IABC provides products, services, activities and networking opportunities to help people and organisations achieve excellence in public relations, employee communications, marketing communications, public affairs and all other forms of communications.

The monthly Leadership series, initiated in January 1999 continues to attract members and potential members. The purpose of these monthly breakfast meetings is to encourage networking among members and to create forum for members to discuss current and specific issues that affect them in the course of their daily tasks and responsibilities as communicators.
