IABC Malaysia Silver Quill Awards 2005 Launched
Call For Entries With Twenty-four Categories For Contention
Early Bird Entries Enjoy A 20% Rebate
KUALA LUMPUR, 6 OCTOBER 2004 ---- The Malaysia Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) today announced the launch of the IABC Malaysia Silver Quill Awards 2005 with the call for entries.
The communication competition features 24 categories in three divisions communication management, communication skills and a newly introduced division in communication creative that looks for creative talent and design in an essentially communicative function.
The new division will appeal to the advertising industry as well as marketing communications while the former two will appeal to practitioners of corporate communications, said IABC Malaysia Chapter president Ghazalie Abdullah.
The competition is not limited to those in advertising, marketing and communications. Rather it is opened to any business communication that could include those from merchant bankers who advise on mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and unlocking shareholder value.
Human resource, web designers, film makers, bankers, CFOs and CEOs will also find the IABC Malaysia Silver Quill Awards 2005 an excellent platform to showcase their excellent work, and be recognised.
For Communication Management entries, the work plan and the work sample are each worth 50 per cent of the score. For Communication Skills entries, the work plan is worth 40 per cent and the work sample is worth 60 per cent of the score. For Communication Creative entries, the work plan is worth 25 per cent and the work sample is worth 75 per cent of the score.
Winners of the IABC Malaysia Silver Quill Awards 2005 will move up to international level for the IABC Gold Quill Awards that sees entries coming in from over 60 countries around the world.

IABC Berbuka Puasa Special Featuring Brand Expert Joseph Baladi
The IABC Malaysia Chapter is organising an IABC BERBUKA PUASA SPECIAL FEATURING BRAND EXPERT JOSEPH BALADI of Carlyle Brand Consultants Singapore. Special in the sense that we get to probe branding in a 3 hour seminar and thereafter, relax it off with a berbuka puasa dinner at the PWTC that offers Malay, Indian, Chinese, International and Japanese cuisine - all for FREE if you are an IABC Malaysia Chapter Member. For Malaysia, the rates are currently (US dollars):
$124 renewal ($104 international dues plus $20 Asia Pacific district dues)
$164 lapsed ($104 international dues plus $20 Asia Pacific district dues plus $40 reinstatement fee)
$144 new ($104 international dues plus $40 application fee)
Note 1: During member months, the $40 application fee and $40 reinstatement fee are waived. Payment must be received at headquarters during the month to qualify.
Note 2: The application fee and the reinstatement fee are only $20 if someone enrolls or re-joins online. This $20 is waived during membership months for online joiners.
Note 3: If someone lives outside of Malaysia and joins the Malaysian chapter, they still must pay the international dues assigned to their country by PPP. The four tiers are as follows:
Tier A: $203; Tier B: $168; Tier C: $145; Tier D: $104
